Grin and bare it

What a pretty sight. Not!
What a pretty sight. Not!

I had another tiring day and left not that convinced I wanted to run. I decided to do the same as Tuesday and run 30 minutes solid with the intention of beating the time, distance and pace of Tuesdays run.

I mixed the route up slightly this evening to give myself a random challenge and this cost me a bit of time, distance and pace as I ended up down a whole new road which turned out to be full of hills.

I used to dread hill runs but now I have become accustomed to than and carried on through the ups and downs of Fernlea.

I managed to return home (a hot sweaty mess) with my pace and distance recorded as only slightly lower than Tuesday.

I put the accelerator on when I got into New Braiswick Park as its downhill and flat and at this time of night no one is around. I ran as hard as I could for the last five minutes of the run speeding around corners and bends like some demented fool!

I also decided to try even harder in my cool down segment as i seemed to have some energy to spare and Kelis's Acapella helped me reach fifth gear and blitz around the roads for a further couple of minutes.

A good run out tonight and another wake up session where I've returned home invigorated and forgotten the problems of the day. It's also meant I feel much more alert again. I love it when that happens.

It was dark tonight as it was drizzling quite a bit but I felt safe in my high vis jacket. I do think I will have to dig out some old clear lens spectacles as my Police sunglasses just make everything much darker at night (the tint isn't that strong but it does make a difference).

You may have read that I have added an additional race to my target this year and am running the Colchester Santa Run 5K. I would love to raise as much as I can for Colchester Hospital and of course the Alzheimer's Society whom I am raising money for by running the MoRunning 10K in 6 weeks time.

Please sponsor me and make all this effort worthwhile. Thanks x
