I am either a glutton for punishment or my new found love of running and supporting worthwhile causes is enabling me to take on new challenges… It's probably the latter!
Itwhen 2012 started I would never have imagined I would be running a 10K in November in aid of Alzheimer's Society. The thought would have never crossed my mind and I would not have even considered the notion of hitting the road three times a week.
As you know I am now hooked into my training schedule and am out there running to keep fit, clear my head and improve my performance in order to complete my run for Alzheimer's Society in Greenwich in a couple of weeks.
The training is going very well and the fund raising is up beyond my wildest dreams. I have now raised £1,080. And am looking to raise as much as I can so as to ensure people like my Gran do not suffer at the hands of Dementia or Alzheimer's.
In some twist of fate I discovered that Colchester stages a Santa Run in December. This is a shorter run of 5 or 3K (I am running 5K), and is virtually on our doorstep. It would be silly to pass up an opportunity to dress up as Santa and run in aid of our local hospital, especially as they took good care of me when I was an emergency admission earlier in the year.
So yes… I have signed up for the run and yes I am looking for new sponsorship. People have already been very generous and I don't want to beg or force people to sponsor me but if you could that would be brilliant.
I have to raise £50 for the Santa Run but whatever I raise will be a huge bonus considering my current endeavours to raise as much as I can for Alzheimers Society.
Thanks to everyone for your continued support, sponsorship and tips and advice regarding my running. You've all helped me a lot and as I grow and learn from this new interest in running I would love to give something back to the community and appreciate any help you can offer.
Of course if you are in Greenwich Park on the 25th November or Colchester Castle Park on the 9th December (yes I appreciate the runs are a fortnight apart and in the depths of winter), please feel to drop by and cheer me and my fellow runners on.
Thank you x
