12 days to go… Must dash…

There are only 12 days left until I run my first ever 10K race and I am excited and a little nervous.

My friends and running colleagues have told me to ease off on the training before the big day but I have decided to stick with my modus-operandi. I am running two 30 minute runs in the week and a long run (as close to 10 k as I can get) over the weekend. This should lead me nicely to the MoRun on the 25th.

I am inching closer and closer to my sponsorship target of £1,500 and just need a few final generous donations to help me reach the magic number.

I am running in aid of Alzheimer's Society and have been humbled by the generosity of friends, family and colleagues. I never imagined I would raise as much as I have already and would love to start and finish the run knowing I have banked £1,500 for such a worthy cause.

Tonight's run went well and I managed a good pace throughout the race. I seemed to be in good spirits throughout the run, regardless of the dark and the wind.

Fastest song tonight was We All Wanna Be Prince by Felix Da Housecat which had the right amount of beats to get my legs going like the clappers!

Tonight it felt like I simply got on with it and I wasn't too hung up on how long I had left to run, whether I needed a drink or worrying about my breathing. I just hope this is the case when I run on the 25th! I am sure I will be fine on the day as I am running with friends and it'll be a whole new experience running with others – I always run on my own.

In fact thinking about it I didn't actually have a drink this evening until I finished my run and I wasn't wanting to clear my throat so much. Maybe there's something in that…

As you may have read I had a few minor gps issues which seem to have sorted themselves out. It'll be interesting to see how I get on when I pick up my new iPhone 5 as I will be running with a newer phone and on a different network. I am so tired of Vodafone No Signal so hopefully this may also help improve things.

I guess I need to get myself a new running arm band now to accommodate my new phone. Anyone want my current one? One careful owner!
