On Thursday we took the bus into Limassol old town where we spent the day.
We explored Limassol Castle and Archaeological Museum in the morning where you get some great views of the town from the castle tower.
During the afternoon we explored the old market streets with their labyrinth of small shops and we took a break near the market square for lunch.
The restaurant owner seemed to take a particular shine to me and was very chatty. He even insisted I popped into the bar to see his photographs! That said it may have just been Cypriot hospitality as they all seem very nice here.
We visited the Orthodox Cathedral which was full of high camp detail inside. The likes of which I have never seen in a church before. Sadly you cannot take photos but to be honest they would not have done the place justice.
Richard and I took a walk along the sea front before having some retail therapy at Debenhams (you read that right!) before heading back to the hotel for a well earned rest.
It was nice to get out of the hotel and explore the area but my feelings of Limassol are a little mixed. It feels a little odd in places and is much smaller than I thought it would be. Still it was nice to explore and full of history and character.
