This is not the photo of a man post run covered in sweat… well it is but I am also soaked to the skin.
Travelling home on the train I came through a storm at Chelmsford and I was hoping I would miss it. My walk back to the house was warm and sunny but sadly when I left the house in my running kit (a mere 10 minutes later), the heavens opened.
I persevered, carried on – I am not a fair weather runner. Well that's what I thought until the wind picked up and it started to hail – horizontally! At first it was liberating and refreshing but after a while it just plain hurt! Save for a brief 20 secs where I sheltered under the wood for a quick drink I carried on through the storm. I have to admit though there were points where I couldn't see where I was going.
The drama of the weather aside I did ok tonight. I managed to run for 35 minutes and was close to 5K again. I will push myself Wednesday to try to go that bit further… I may even consider trying the last two weeks training with the coach again just to get me back into the swing of things.
I know I am doing really well but I know I can do better. Pacing myself again will help I am sure as I believe once Ihttpt the first 5 minutes I bolt the run like some race horse in the Grand National – and I know I cannot sustain that pace!
Tonight was not the night to judge my form. The weather was lousy and I was really tired today so I am very pleased with my effort this evening.
Thanks to Enda and Cuelin, the cheers did help spur me on through the storm 🙂
Don't you think all this effort should count for something? If you haven't done so already please sponsor me for Alzheimer's Society. I am running the MoRunning 10K in November (my first) and any money raised will go a long way to help the fantastic work at the Society and will give me more incentive to keep going. Please sponsor me…
