I decided to get on the road early this morning as I was up first thing and it’s such a lovely morning.
I headed out in my new Asic GT-2170’s expecting the run I ran Thursday and was surprised when the coach increased the run time. At first I was daunted by this but soon found my stride.
As the coach said I am already running double the time I did two weeks ago which I think is quite remarkable. This ensured I ran further, longer and burned more calories so this is my best run to date. I also cracked 4 k. A few more runs like this and I will be at my goal of 5k sooner than I expected.
It was lovely to get out so early this morning as there was no one around except the local wildlife and I got to bask in the sunlight as it rose over the horizon.
I really enjoyed today’s run and I think that may be in some part to my new shoes as I have little pain following this run. I used to get shin splints with my normal trainers and that simply isn’t the case now. I do see the importance of good shoes and encourage anyone running to get an assessment and invest in a decent pair.

Asics are pretty reliable. I ran my last pair to death. I’ve swopped to Nike Free Run now which are very different; almost ‘barefoot’ so they took a little while to get used to.
Well done on your progress!

I have heard good things about them and am impressed with them so far. I’d be interested to find out how you find the barefoot Nikes.
Thanks for the encouragement, I am really enjoying it.

Dude – forget gait analysis, pronation, gel cushioning etc etc and just get a pair of FiveFingers and be done with it 🙂

Thanks Dave. I am quite happy with my Asics. Not sure I’d get on with the five fingers. I guess that’s what you use. What did you start with?
