The Malaspina Galleries are a series of dramatic sandstone rock formations along the northwest coast of Gabriola Island. These formations are part of a community park near Descanso Bay. Over many years, erosion from waves, wind, and water has carved the sandstone into large wave-like or “rip curl” shapes. Some of these formations even form overhangs that visitors can walk under, creating beautiful light, shadows, and textures.
These sandstone formations have been shaped by centuries of wind, waves and water — and standing beneath them, you really feel it. Have you ever visited a natural landmark that genuinely took your breath away? Drop it in the comments.
