The Shingle Spit

The beauty of taking RAW photos is that you can revert to the colour version even if shooting in black and white.

The other photos in this series focussed on the military history of Orford Ness. I picked this as the next shot as it focusses on the beauty of the spit.

Orford Ness is one of Europe’s largest vegetated shingle spits. The landscape includes salt marshes, mudflats, lagoons, reed beds, and shingle ridges.

The reserve supports a wide range of wildlife. It is particularly important for bird species, including avocets, marsh harriers, and various migratory birds. It also hosts rare plants and invertebrates adapted to the unique shingle habitat.

Amongst all the mystery and history is nature at its best.
