Regular readers/followers will know that I am an avid fan of British Photographer Martin Parr.
Wex Photographic currently run virtual events that feature a wide range of material from camera reviews, tutorials and interviews.
They managed to secure an evening with Martin Parr and I was really happy to have booked myself a ticket.
Martin was friendly, honest and very knowledgeable about all things photographic.
“You have to get out there and take lots of bad photographs to learn your craft and to achieve the good photos”
Martin Parr
Martin shared lots of insight about how he approaches the various types of photographs he tales, be that observational, commercial or project work.
He also covered the work that he curates through the Martin Parr Foundation, the Format Festival and his vast collection of British Photography which was obtained by the Tate.
It was enlightening to hear Martin explain that in the process of creating the 40 photos that went into his Last Resort collection, that he took thousands of photos on hundreds of rolls of film to get to the final 40.

I was lucky enough to have one of my questions answered by Martin at the beginning of the evening.
To hear Martins reply, you can watch the recording of the evening on YouTube.
I highly recommend taking an hour out of your day, sitting back and enjoying this inspirational conversation.
