The wrong type of running

I haven't been running since the Santa 5k last weekend, primarily because I have simply not had the time.

It's a lame excuse but not one I use often as my running schedule will show I try to get out as often as I can.

I've attended two Christmas parties and two lunches this week, which although fun, have sucked up all my free time.

I'm not sure that such frivolity is great for me though as most of the parties have had more emphasis on booze rather than food. The food at Tuesdays party was so macro it was pretty much non existent!

This coupled with a busy work schedule and very cold weather have inevitably caused me to be a bit run down. It started with an ulcer (my nemesis), at the back of my throat on Friday and now I am bunged up.

I feel fairly alert but am having trouble breathing and its because of this I decided not to go running over the weekend as I had planned to.

It amazes me that I can run in all weathers and feel invigorated and healthy but when I stop it all catches up with me. Of course my increased appetite and more balanced diet when running does go some way to help. It doesn't take much though to catch up with you does it?

I have another team lunch tomorrow so will ensure I eat well.

I want to clear this cold now as I don't want it to ruin my Christmas and I want to get back into my trainers and back on the road.

There was some good news this week, I reached 1 Million Nike fuel points! I am not sure how I have achieved this is such a short space of time but I have. It's just a shame my Fuelband clasp keeps opening on my wrist… I've lost count of how many times I have nearly lost it in the past week or so 😦
