Listen to your body Buster!

Todays run went a bit like this…

My legs hurt, they feel really heavy… it must be the cold weather, the wind, the fact that I have not run for two days, the Martini I had last night, the fact that I am wearing my Asics and not my Nikes, the hearty lunch of Celeriac soup, the fact that I ran in the afternoon and not in the morning as I planned or hang on… shut up inner monologue…

After about 18 minutes of self-doubt and self-criticism I decided to ignore my internal demons and just get on with it…

I set iSmoothRun to target two 25 minute runs with a minute break – quite a bit considering that I hadn’t managed that much this week. I also decided to try the long distance run with my Asics instead of my Nikes and my legs didn’t really thank me for it… I got the pins and needles in my right calf which I have not had since running with my LunarGlides. This did dissipate after a while but it seemed more pronounced mid run with the Asics.

I had to stop part the way in to catch my breath and I had to have more to drink than I do normally so I decided to listen to my body and just run what I felt like. I actually found my rhythm and got on with it but I did tell myself I could only manage 25 minutes and to see how I got on once I got there. Common sense prevailed and I carried on and started to enjoy the run.

It may be Movember but the Mo' ain't staying!

The music motivated me quite a bit today and the fastest track was an oldie, Vibeology by Paula Abdul, not sure where the track came from our when I added it to my running playlist but I am glad I did, it motivated me and it made me giggle.

Woodkids Run Boy Run came on again and as usual it seemed to spur me on and I ran like a bat out of hell through the entire track. What is it about that track that drives me on?! If music motivates you when running you really should give it a try…

My iPhone did play Dementia by Owl City which neatly reminded me that all the training is worthwhile as it is less than a month when I run the Movember 10K run in Greenwich park – my first official 10K run. I covered 9K today so think I am in good shape to complete the run on the 25th November.

The sponsorship is going well but I have a little way to go to reach my target – please sponsor me and help me reach my target however you can 🙂

Oh and I reached a milestone today – this is my 6 month anniversary of running – funny how time flies when you’re having fun 🙂
