20K in one day!

As reported yesterday I put on my running shoes and cleared nearly 8K in the morning.

Also as reported I ended up picking up work, work that was to continue to bug me through the day until 10pm last night. In fact the work still hasn't ended as I am still taking calls, managing the project and trying to deliver to an end goal but the posts keep shifting…

Anyway… In an attempt to clear my head and try and get away from the work, Richard suggested we take a walk into Colchester town centre. This doesn't sound that unusual but ever since we moved here we've driven into town and yet we can see the centre from our house.

I thought this was a great so we set off into town to escape the work madness for an hour or so.

Richard tagged most of the walk with Map My Run (most as his battery died about 10 metres from the house at the end). Anyway it turns out the town centre is slightly further away than we thought and with North Hill to tackle it is not a gentle stroll either.

As you can see we ended up covering 11.62K just by walking to and from the shops!

We found a few nice spots and surprises on the walk and can really appreciate the beauty of Castle Park. It's a lovely spot and I am considering running the Santa 5K there in December in aid of the local Cancer unit… (who wants to join me?)

I am surprised that I managed to add such mileage to my day given my early morning run and am pleased that I don't feel any adverse affect of the extra walk.

Sadly it wasn't a peaceful walk together as I was constantly hounded with calls from the office.

I just hope that this work madness will end soon and I can start to reclaim my weekend!

At least I got to stretch my legs and spend a little time with my baby.
