My first 10k: Training Video Diary 1

This isn't an ordinary update. Following my decision to run the MoRunning 10k in November I thought I'd start a video diary so you can see my progress.

I'm happy with my pace tonight even though I had a rough time this evening, find out more in the video…

Thanks to Nick and Enda for the cheers – I really needed those tonight!

Visit my Just Giving page to find out why I am running for Alzheimer's Society and to donate. Many thanks.

  1. But you look so ALIVE! 😉

Try not get too caught up on the stats and the constantly-upward trajectory. After the first bloom, you will find your pace doesn’t improve as dramatically but your recovery time shortens or you don’t want naps during the day etc. Nike+ doesn’t measure those things!

One of the enjoyable things about running is being able to zone out and get spaced out. Not totally advisable when running in the city, but it might be ok for you!

Anyway, well done so far and keep it up. The 10k in November will be a breeze (no, it won’t with those bloody hills but I’m obliged to be positive and encouraging…)

  2. You reckon! I was crackered.

Thanks for the advice. I’m not expecting my pace to get brilliantly better but I’d like to see a consistent speed which I do appear to be achieving.

I think I zone out to some degree during my runs. That’s one of the reasons I enjoy running in the evenings as it helps me forget my day.

Hills? You said hill originally! Lol. Thanks buddy 🙂
