Pet Shop Boys have released their first single from their new album.

Winner is all about being the best, getting to the race, training and winning…

Sounds like and anthem for the Olympics? Yep it sure does and that’s probably why I hate it.

The track doesn’t go anywhere. The production as ever is great but the song just ambles along.

For a group that pride themselves on leading not following this just sounds like a way to write a generic pop song to get air play and revenue.

The BBC will love it, I have no doubt we’ll be hearing it on Sports Personality for years and years (just like Opportunities is played whenever anyone mentions financial booms and bust).

Really disappointed. Doesn’t have any edge. It isn’t crafted as well as other PSB stuff and I am just surprised Neil and Chris have released such a track.

I hope it’s a success for them but I really don’t feel any warmth towards this song.

I just hope this isn’t an indication of what to expect on the album…
