Great run out tonight. Didn’t break 5K but I paced myself much better and felt really good for it.
I’ve asked around and some people seem to prefer running in tee shirts whatever the weather. Tonight was really really windy and as recorded before I have trouble breathing when the wind is up. Wind is a trigger for my asthma although I have not had an episode. It’s just psychological I guess.
Anyway I’ve bought myself some new kit and included a long sleeve running top. I thought I’d be too sweaty in it but it proved to be the perfect antidote. It gave me just enough coverage on my arms and warmed me when I needed it. The cut of the wind was obliterated by the top and I felt better for wearing it.
It’s been a particularly hard week and once again the run has helped me to take my mind off things – I am constantly amazed how much running is both helping my body and my spirit.
I did have some back pain at the beginning of the week and attributed this to running but this has abated since Wednesday. It was probably the heavy furniture and removals we did at the weekend. I ran my fastest, longest and furthest that night and have been fine since. I had some minor pins and needles on my cool down walk but this appears to be decreasing too. In fact I do believe that I am building resistance and power which I guess comes with time and all this energy and effort.
The guy at Runners World in Colchester did mention to me about finding my energy and enthusiasm and wanting to run and that’s exactly what’s happening now. I didn’t want my workshop to overrun cause I wanted to get home and run and tonight I wanted to get out and run when I got in cause I want to do it and I enjoy it. I cannot believe this has happened so quickly but I am really pleased it has. I haven’t been this hooked on exercise in years.
The other great benefit of running on nights like tonight is that Richard was home and I get extra treats when I get in. The post run massage is very very welcome and (ahem) lets put it this way, we both benefit from my exercise 🙂
