Today saw the culmination of another big project, another milestone and two days of back to back work. I was in the office at 7 am yesterday, I checked into my hotel at 2200. Ate around 2300. Back in the office today at 0600 and worked straight through.
I won’t lie when I tell you I left the office physically exhausted and mentally drained. I actually left in tears today. It has been more than enough for a 48 hour period.
Due to the intensity of the work I have not been my usual active self and my back has been playing up as has my legs etc. I posted a comment on twitter about whether I should run in such a state and received plenty of encouragement.
I sucked it in, dumped my crap and headed out on a run.
Half an hour later and I feel better and reinvigorated. I manage to crush my best time for the mile and the km. Helped by the increased running times I am managing to break these records. I don’t enjoy it when I am prompted to run longer, I think i fear it a little but once I get going I am really enjoying it. I am also finding the running sections easier.
I believe I have found a pace I like and now I have my new shoes I am not worrying about shin splints etc which I was getting before.
These times may not be the best you will ever see but for me they mean an awful lot and I am proud of my achievements to date.
Thanks to Ardvark, Enda, QH and David for all the online encouragement and advice 🙂
I also want to say a warm hello to my new blog followers – it seems my running posts are gathering a whole new audience for my blog. Welcome everyone!
