Cue the Rocky theme tune

I wasn’t planning to run tonight (I was going for a shoe fitting) but have moved the fitting to the weekend and decided to see what the weather was like.

Colchester was very grey and wet when I got home and I have been concerned about catching cold or not having the right kit for running in poor weather but I thought the best way is to suck it and see.

I donned my shirt and shorts and headed out into the drizzle and can say that I was surprised how refreshed I felt and how the weather seemed to drive me to try harder. If anything the poor weather took my mind off the run.

The newly revamped Nike+ service advised me I was not pacing myself properly and I took this advice on board. Due to the weather I did more close loops to the house (just in case) and paced myself better. I felt worse at the end of the run which is a first.

Anyway I managed to run a personal best for the mile (thanks for the congratulations Paula Radcliffe) and can only hope I can continue to improve from here.

The combination of Nike+ and Get Running is a great combination and the training I am receiving from the app is giving me enough encouragement and rhythm to keep things under control. I am feeling so much better for taking up running and now I have been out in the wind and rain I guess there is no stopping me.

As Richard said in a message mid run – da da da, da da da (Rocky theme tune!)

Oh and I am now collecting Nike Fuel due to the upgrade to the Nike web site – let’s see if that means anything and encourages me further?

Are you on Nike+ why not search for me (trunkguy) and maybe we could try some challenges or tag!

Thanks for your comment!
