Running for Queen and Country!

My time/distance and pace for todays run
My time/distance and pace for todays run
Todays run followed a long walk along the coast at Southwold – I think Richard and I already covered several K before I even started.

I know if ran off to fast as I felt some pain in my right ankle after the first run but this seemed to die down afterwards and the rest of my walking/running went ok.

I got a huge lift mid way through the run when the Battle of Britain WWII fly past went over head. This was on its way down to London to salute the Queen and it flies very low over where we live. I was running at just the right point and saw the formation of Hercules, Spitfires and the Lancaster Bomber come into view then fly overhead and disappear in the distance – if only the RAF could do that for me during every run, it certainly lifted my spirits!

I didn’t break 4k again this time but do feel like I am making progress. I want to have a gait test done and hopefully I may get some tips on my running style at the same time…

What do fellow runners wear in the rain/wind? I am only noticing the wind cause of my chest but am concerned the forecast is for rain this week and I want to find the best way of staying dry/warm.

  1. I’ve got one of the Montane Marathon Featherlite jackets, they are brilliant in the wind and rain – but really lightweight so if the weather changes suddenly you can stuff it back in its tiny apple-sized pouch or in a pocket. Not too expensive either, mine was about £30 on Amazon 🙂
