Run Forrest, Run!

My running coach increased the amount of running today so I did six longer spells of running in 30 interspersed with walking.

I’ve set myself some new targets to ensure I top 4 km and have also joined a challenge to “walk 5km” on Nike+. The challenge is straightforward enough but I want to get up to walking and running 5k in 30 minutes within a month. On my current form I think this is possible.

I only just missed my 4k target today but I ran less total time and a quicker pace so the training is paying off.

I do believe I am feeling happier and healthier as a result. My virtual coach is still getting a mental mouthful when I get the encouragement at mid point but I am using this to preserve and am finding it amusing that I am having a mental tussle with a virtual being.

Anyway this run felt a little more challenging but that’s obviously because I have increased the amount of running. I’m also finding the wind interesting to compete against as my asthma is at its worse when conditions are breezy. I’m not wheezing I or anything but I do notice the different in my breaths when the conditions are cool and blowy.

I ran larger circuits today as I wanted to maintain a decent pace and I think this has paid off. I still need to work out how I pace myself properly and how I see what’s going on around me as there’s a lot to take in when running. On testate elopement it’s relatively easy as its nice and quite but to get better distance i will have to hear out onto busier streets. All in good time I guess…

I’d be interested to hear experiences from other runners out there. I keep hearing the running community is such a friendly one so why not prove it?
