A nice long weekend in East Anglia

It’s a long weekend here in the UK as we have May Day bank holiday tomorrow. Richard and I have been quite industrious yet we haven’t gone overboard, thankfully.

Yesterday Richard out together our new bathroom cabinet and that now completes our refresh of the main bathroom.

I sorted the house yesterday whilst Richard was doing that and we headed to the cinema in the afternoon. We popped in to see American Reunion which was an enjoyable enough little romp. It was nice to see Chris Klein back on the big screen and looking buff and shirtless too 🙂

The film was fun and it was a nice progression of the story but some of the cast are looking much older than the others.

Today we drove to Wells-next-the-Sea which used to be where we’d visit when holidaying in Norfolk. It’s now 90 minutes from us and it was wonderful to be able to visit in a day. Sadly we didn’t get the sun we were promised but it did remain dry whilst we were walking along the harbour and across the beach.

Following our walk on the beach we popped to Sedgeford where we had lunch at our favourite restaurant the King William VI. Richard and I enjoyed a lovely three course meal, to be honest with breakfast, bacon rolls in Wells and lunch I am amazed I can still move!

Heading home we stopped in on Castle Rising Castle (former home of the Howards) and spent a short while poking around the ruins. It’s hard to imagine how imposing the castle was in it’s heyday. Sadly the rain started again which meant me had to leave as its no fun walking around a ruin from 1140 AD which it’s chucking it down!

So far it’s been a lovely weekend, the weather granted hasn’t been great but it is what you make of it isn’t it?

We’re home now so we’ll have a restful weekend and apart from some minor chores tomorrow we’ll have a quiet day 🙂
