Call it what you want!

It’s the concert I have been waiting and wanting to attend for ages and I really didn’t know what to expect but Foster the People were off the scale.

Brixton Academy was rammed full of people (lots of fit young FTP look a likes in the audience) and the energy levels were very high.

For a group with one album and 10 songs honestly raised the roof. The guys were so energetic and enthusiastic it was infectious.

I was so pleased to see just the 5 of them on stage and a vast array of instruments set up. All of which they played with aplomb. Each band member was playing numerous instruments at the same time and they used their obvious talent to extend and rework the tracks from Torches.

Disobeying health and safety instructions (!) the whole audience was up dancing, singing and jumping about.

For a group that aren’t that well known (at least amongst my peers) it would seem they have a huge following. They’ve had to add extra dates to the London tour and all dates are sold out.

I was in seventh heaven when they performed Helena Beat but the finale of Pumped Up Kicks was mind blowing. I’d love to see the boys record and release that version as it was intense and so fast. It had the audience hoarse.

At the end if Pumped Up Kicks the lead singer Mark Foster (my mate and quite fancy the bassist Cubbie (in white in the pic above)) dived on the stage and finished his last refrains surfing across the crowd.

A brilliant night and I would say a night I won’t forget.

And I haven’t even got to the geeky dancing they were doing (which Enda has mastered 🙂 ) or the fab white lava bubbles they sprayed over the audience.
