Where has that weekend gone?

English Fizz

We’ve had a relaxing weekend, a fun weekend and a productive weekend. I’m just not sure how it’s gone so quickly. Every time I look at the clock it appears to have leapt ahead an hour or so!

We had a lazy start to the weekend on Saturday and Richard completed a spot of DIY in our main bathroom.

Unfortunately we didn’t get into London early enough as planned as I wanted to see the new Gilbert and George exhibition at the White Cube Gallery. It’s running for a while so I am sure we can get to see it before it closes…

Anyway we got into town mid afternoon and popped by Covent Garden where I undertook a hunt of some summer jackets I was interested in buying. Sadly Lyle and Scott didn’t have the jacket I wanted and other stores simply were asking too much. I ended up in Urban Outfitters and purchased something I hadn’t planned to but am happy I now have a new loose summer jacket (and it cost a fraction of the jacket I was coveting).

Following this small shopping spree we ended up in Paul where we enjoyed tea and cake (well I had crepes) before heading into Soho to meet up with friends for cocktails. We enjoyed the odd sip of Tom Collins, English Fizz and some Lemoncello Champagne cocktail (which we won’t be ordering again!).

Several drinks, lots of banter and a short walk later and we found ourselves in Cafe Mode where we met the rest of our party and had a lively evening meal. It’s the first time we have seen the guys since Christmas and lovely to catch up with them all.

We didn’t get back that late (23:30) and were all tucked up like good boys and most remarkably there were no hangovers this morning.

Brightlingsea Marina

Sunday was filled with our usual routine of housework before doing something else and as its been a lovely day we took a drive over to Brightlingsea. The only time we have been before was a late summer evening so we hadn’t seen much of the town and it appears that it’s all closed on Sunday’s!

Not to be disappointed we headed to the promenade where we took a long walk along the coast before heading to the new development in the town by the marina. We found a lovely wine bar/coffee house where we enjoyed some great homemade Victoria Sponge and a pot of tea, watching the boats and reading the papers.

It really started to feel like spring today. Mild but with a nip in the air and the trees are starting to come into blossom.

It would seem the sailors are getting ready too as they were out cleaning their boats ready for the new season of sailing ahead.

Back home we’ve chilled out and will do for the rest of the evening before another busy week. Thankfully I have booked Friday off as I need a break!
