We are spending a well deserved quiet couple of days at our new home before heading down to the south-west on Tuesday. We are reducing our usual mad dash around Plymouth to a couple of days as we return on Friday to allow us to have a relax at the other end of the week before we head back to work in the new year.
It’s been a busy year but one that has had lots of activity, drama and fun along the way.

Of course the big news for us was our house purchase. We have been in the house 7 months now and after all the house hunting, the drama of pulling out a week before purchasing the house in Cambridgeshire; it really truly feels like we made the right choice. We are both very comfortable in our new home and love the opportunities it has given us to explore this lovely part of the UK whilst entertaining friends and family in comfort. This I can imagine will continue long into the new year as we have not caught up with everyone due to us being occupied with the move and settling in etc.

My work has been very busy this year and I received my promotion at the beginning of the year. It does feel like I have been taken seriously in my new role and even though it’s been incredibly busy I have enjoyed the journey I have taken professionally this year. I am also in a great position in the business as I am part of a team that is changing the way we actually do our business and it’s a change that has made the press – exciting times!
I continue to take strength and lots of love from my close friends and along the way I have forged new friendships and gotten to know others more and more. It’s friends like these that really make me smile and I am very honoured and pleased to have such great people in my life and I thank you all for your continued entertainment, support and love (you know who you are!).
We’ve also bid Adios and Bon Voyage to friends who have moved overseas but thanks to the advent of FaceTime, email etc they never seem that far away – and of course it increases our holiday destination list 🙂
I am very lucky to have such wonderful parents and it was a pleasure to entertain them and welcome them into our new house a couple weeks ago. It was also lovely to entertain Richards mum, especially as she has had a fairly rough year.

I’ve read some great books thanks to my purchase of a Kindle and been inspired by some great art shows. I had another stab at getting my work into the Summer Exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts which was as nerve-wracking as ever… I need to decide whether I shall enter next year as I have not painted anything new since moving… Watch this space!
Amongst all the doom and gloom, the riots, the economic climate, the death of iconic figures (such as Steve Jobs and Elizabeth Taylor etc) it is good to be able to write this and to say that those I love and I are happy and healthy.
We have made it to another festive period and the near the end of another year. For that we should all be grateful.

May you all have a lovely Christmas however and wherever you may be celebrating it and have a wonderful New Year.
K x
