All the 4’s!

Yesterday a couple of our close friends paid us a visit to wish Richard a happy birthday and to check out our new house.

I had decided to make a day of it and had arranged for us all to go to Colchester Zoo. Richard and I did say we’d need to get out and do local things but I am not sure this is what he had in mind.

I haven’t been to a zoo in years and wasn’t sure what to expect. Colchester Zoo is a fair size and it took the best part of the day to walk around taking in all the exhibits.

It seemed like all the animals were well looked after and there appeared to be lots of open enclosures where you really felt like you were up close to certain animals – much better than the wire frame cages I remember as a child.

I took literally hundreds of shots but am most pleased with the brief videos I captured of the Grass Cutter Ants, Penguins and Sea-lions. I hope you enjoy this brief video…

We continued the celebrations in Colchester where we all went for a very late lunch (early dinner I suppose). Following that it was back to ours for polite chat, chocolate and coffee.

I wasn’t sure what to expect of the day when I suggested it but I think I can safely say we all had a fun day and it’s one birthday Richard won’t forget in a hurry!
