Radio silence?

Excuse the radio silence but work recently has been fudging chaos – I know I used to complain about it quite a bit but things really have ramped up in pressure and to be perfectly honest I was nearing breaking point last week.

I have had some positives over the past couple of weeks though.

I was really happy to receive a phone call from two very good friends who happened to be back in the UK from the USA. They were here for a stealth flying visit but thankfully we managed to arrange an evening out where we spent our time catching up over the previous years events. I am very lucky and have some truly great friends and seeing these guys again brought it all back.

I was also very lucky to receive an unexpected gift from another friend who happened to see a book that reminded her of me. She noted from my tweets/Facebook updates I was not having the best of times so sent me the gift as a pick me up. It truly was very thoughtful and very appreciated.

Today I finally met up with Enda from Daddy or Chips?. Of course we collaborated on this post and have been chatting quite a bit of Twitter and Facebook. Well today we finally met up for lunch and had a really good natter. I have had some bad experiences online lately and it’s nice to meet up with someone genuine who shares my views on the purpose of social media. We also have a lot of musical taste in common which made for a lengthy, animated conversation.

This leads me nicely into the next week which seems to be the start of the festive party season and a run of concerts. I’m off to see Kelis on Monday evening and then Janelle Monae on Sunday – I cannot wait! I have been looking forward to seeing Janelle for ages. Kelis was an added bonus as I won the tickets!

On top of this I have also booked tickets for the Pet Shop Boys ballet which takes place at Sadler’s Wells next year. The Most Incredible Thing has a very limited run and even though it’s contemporary dance I have convinced myself if I do not like it, I can always close my eyes and listen to the music (which is ultimately why I am going!).

Last weekend we met up with a couple of other friends and we started our festive events earlier than normal. We all met at Waddesdon Manor where we saw the festive decorations and other festivities that were on offer in and around the grounds. It’s got so popular this was the only weekend we could get in. I think it’s safe to say we had a fun day – I don’t think the sweets we bought helped though as we (ok me) were a little hyper thanks to all the sugar we had consumed!

As you can see from the photo Richard was full of the festive spirit!

I have set up a Facebook page for Trunk Guy and I hope you will visit it and use it to [Like], comment and interact with me – maybe tell me what else you’d like to see me do? Or tell me what I’m doing that you enjoy…?

Right I am going to be terribly British (but also wonderfully modern) and check the UK Snow map from Twitter to see if I will be likely to be snowed in tonight (I doubt it!)

Thanks for your comment!
