Do you still blog?

Yes I do?

I was asked this in the week by someone who I knew years ago that has re entered my world. They also asked if I still pod casted but the answer to that question is no!

I would like to spend more time on the blog and pod casting, I love to share and I love to converse (it’s in my nature). I don’t however have as much time these days.

Commuting takes it out of you and when you have a very busy job you end up not doing very much in the evening. Before this week it was quite normal for me to sleep on the train coming home… I have tried to break this trend though as I don’t think it’s particularly healthy.

I spent 3 days worth of commute time watching “Revenge of the Fallen” which I have oddly only seen once. I think I must have watched the original Transformers film many many times. Anyway breaking the film into 30 minute chunks meant it lasted through the week and it helped to pass the time.

Usually I am flicking around Twitter, Facebook and Flickr or trying to ignore the other people sharing my commute (as does everyone else). I think films are the way to go but to be honest I still don’t want to spend a small fortune on DVDs or downloads (and Apples 24 hours grace to watch a movie isn’t long enough). Therefore I am finding material by other means.

One such film was Kick Ass (or Kick A*s is you buy it from iTunes!), a film I knew little about and to be honest was shocked by the level of violence. Richard won’t watch such a film so it’s confined to my iPhone 4 and my commute – not sure I can continue to watch it though as I jumped twice yesterday, scaring the commuters sat next to me!

The weather is terrible, what summer we did have seems to be over and we’re already heading into autumn, I think this calls for a film evening and we have “I Love You Phillip Morris” to watch… No spoilers please!

I continue to use Facebook but this seems to fulfil the role of “major updates” whereas I am using Twitter constantly to chat and to update followers of my latest thoughts and rants. I am getting tired of Twitter though as I seem to be following a clique of people… The problem with this is that you end up with a stream full of conversations between people who you have no idea about nor really any desire to follow.

Twitter also seems plagued with other people’s horoscopes and their running/exercise goals. To be honest I think this is personal information and is tailored to the individual – why is it necessary to share such information?

That said I do like Daily Shoot which sets a daily photography challenge. I like it as it flexes my creative muscle and makes me think about what I can capture and share with a global audience. I don’t always have the time to do it but the shots I have uploaded to far have had lots of positive response, such as the photo below:

I am also finding myself addicted to my iPhone – returning from our holiday I was annoyed by how much communication and information was being pushed to me, but all too soon I am back into the digital stream… I seem however to be hooked on Photo apps and Games at the moment but I tend to finish games very quickly and photo apps seem to lose their shine very quickly. I can see why Apple make so much money from Apps!

I do have to say I like the HDR addition to the iPhone 4. I had an app (thanks Apple!) but it was rather slow, the Apple app is very quick and the images are great quality. It seems that since the upgrade to the iPhone 4 it’s become our compact camera with my PEN being used for proper photography.

Trunk Guy Candy proves to be very popular and even though I will confess to not spending much time on it there still appears to be around 140 photo’s queued – therefore whenever you visit you will be greeted with new treats 🙂

I think we have just got back into the swing of work (if that is possible) but we are off again from next Friday. We’re heading up to Shrewsbury with friends for the weekend before we head down to Devon to catch up with our families. There was some sad news from home this week therefore the timing is almost perfect.

Just have to get through this week at work and then we can relax again. Seems odd that we are going away so soon after our last break but we worked solidly through the beginning of the year so I think we deserve it 🙂

Thanks for your comment!
